On the eve of our new year I was sitting at home finalising details on a project I had been quietly working on for much of 2015. Los Angeles is not the most imaginative city when it comes to festivities … Continue reading PEACE

It is at this time of the year when I attempt to remind all those that we serve throughout the year that Geisha makes the perfect gift. I am sure you will agree that it does indeed, or should I … Continue reading Tis The Season
Just a few words. I am well aware that I have not been contributing a great deal of content of late, with the main contributing factor being that I am writing a book of short stories. Yes–I know! Very exciting if I may say so myself. Promise to keep you updated xoBali. Continue reading The fact is…

When I first came to this country I could scarcely drive. Coming from Europe, driving was seldom required and one might say impractical. All the same, I had somehow passed my test, and in the beginning drove in Los Angeles on my international license. I purchased a VW Beetle, an old one, which I loved. I had learnt to drive on a stick but it had been sometime since I had actually changed gears. What a mess! It would take me about five, sweat inducing minutes to travel but a hundreds meters. At … Continue reading On 7th

Well the thing is, the World Cup has held me captive since the first whistle blow. I have been completely enthralled, even though England was knocked out in the early stages. I expected it, we all did, and it hurt, but then one must accept defeat and move on. I can honestly say, I have been having a spectacular time. This past Saturday I went with some friends to a favourite destination in the city to watch the games. The crowd was particularly rowdy and 95 percent French. “Allez les Bleus” was chanted most of the 90 mins and Champagne … Continue reading All Consuming
In April the city was still so very cold. I walked the elongated avenues at the required city pace or better. At 8am sharp before heading down Lexington each morning, I would stop by the fruit cart stand on the … Continue reading Down Lexington
